Following are some questions about the interior design process that we are frequently asked.
What is the first meeting like if I need an interior design consultation?
At our first meeting at your home or office, we will talk about your interior design or decorating project to come up with priorities and style preferences. Meeting with you will also give the interior designer insight into your personality and those of your family members. You can also have this opportunity to find out what type of people we are and confirm that you are comfortable working with us. The interior designer may make some random suggestions to get a feel for what you are looking for; however this is not a time for a list of recommendations. The designer will need the time for the information to "sink in" and get back to you to give you a more detailed presentation. Usually the interior designer and a project manager will arrive and take notes and photographs so that they can be studied for a proposal. You should plan on spending one to two hours depending on the scope of the project. We will do measuring an evaluation of the space, lighting, ceiling heights, etc., and obtain a general idea about your budget. This is a good time to start thinking about your budget and priorities. We will give you a general idea about what things cost but the final word is always yours.
Do you charge for your first consultation?
There is no charge for a phone or Skype consultation up to 30 minutes. However, in most cases we will have to travel to your home or office. In this case there is a charge for your first interior design consultation. It varies from $150-$300 depending on the size of the project
When will you make interior design recommendations?
After the budget is established we will start a creative conversation when we focus on space planning and ideas for decorating rooms. We will present you with overall Recommendations Plan as a follow up to our first consultation. There is not additional fee for this service.
What is included in the contract and how interior design contract work?
If you like what we are verbally discussing with you we will prepare a contract which will cover all the stages of the project and the overall plans we are presenting. We will start with careful planning and budgeting according to the contract. For example, you may receive a floor plan with locations of all the furniture pieces, two elevations for each area, illustrating ideas for decorating and design process, construction drawings and a lighting plan. Also, we will illustrate our design ideas by means of three dimensional computer presentations and manual sketches.
Who is in charge or ordering and following up on our purchases?
We will continue with our expertly handled ordering process from the wall fabrics and paints to construction and installation procedures. We will provide you with a huge selection of home accessories and gifts and then zoom in on those items and concepts that are "calling your name". We can finish your project right down to the linens, artwork, frames and crystal.
What happens during construction process?
At this stage, we will start implementation of your project. We will schedule the contractors for your project but all the contracts with contractors are between you and them. Depending on the scope of the project and what has been agreed upon in the contract, we will order items and materials for construction agreed upon invoice.
What are the stages of construction and installation?
The production is done in stages, with walls and carpeting first, then with the installation and delivery of any custom furniture, and ending with the smaller items, accessories, wall art, etc.
What is the time frame for my furniture and accessories’ delivery?
We only order your furniture from reliable and relationship based sources. However, some custom designed furniture pieces and accessories may take up to 12 weeks or more to arrive. Before you place an n order, we will inform you about approximate dates.
What to expect during the installation stage for my interior design project?
We are supervising all installations, big or small. Our interior designer will inspect everything thoroughly to ensure that it is 100% flawless.
Where does your company travel? Where is your interior design clients located?
